Structure and Surface is a public art project bridging the manufacturing community of 20th century Philadelphia with the city’s artists and designers of today. Produced by the Mural Arts Program, with the support of a grant from  The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Heritage Philadelphia Program, the project will place a half dozen artists in residence with long established companies from the city’s disappearing textile industry. The exchange of ideas and experiences will provide inspiration for a series of site-specific installations, planned for unveiling in 2014.
