9/6: Busy Bees

From Julie Lorch:

We’ve been busy little bees in August and September. Thanks to our wonderful behind the scenes movers and shakers (Judy Hellman, Director of Special Projects at Mural Arts and Katie Winkler, Project Coordinator), the artists were able to visit a few of each other’s residencies.

We saw monumental tape mazes and a dye house at Wayne Mills, modern swaths of vintage car fabrics woven over and over again until they’re right at Churchville Fabrics, and yarns of all colors and sizes wound and unwound at Clemson Winding.

And another thank you is due to Bill and Joan from Clemson, Bob from Churchville, and Martin and Mary Jane from Wayne Mills. They spent a lot of time answering our questions about the history of the buildings, how the machines work, how the business and product has changed over time and, of course, thank you for letting us touch everything. Attached few images. They are from Wayne Mills, Churchville, and Clemson.
