Kelly Cobb is a Philadelphia based designer and Assistant Professor of Fashion and Apparel Studies at The University of Delaware, where she teaches CAD, Product Development and Management Studio and Creative Design Methods. Most recently, in collaboration with her students, Cobb carried out a “field to fashion” project that demonstrated ground–up thinking about sustainability in the product development process, highlighting cotton and denim manufacturing. Cobb has designed functional prototypes for children’s sportswear and women’s RTW. As well, she has developed and coordinated sample production of surface designs for Couture and RTW markets. Cobb describes her approach to design as steeped in technique and compelled to innovate. She holds a BFA in Textiles from The Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from The University of Florida.
