Julie Lorch is an optimistic writer and designer living in Philadelphia. She is an urbanist at heart, appreciating the vibrancy of cities and their ever-evolving elements and occupants. Julie writes about public space, personal transportation, social movements, and local, living economies. She wrote and photographed Where to Bike Philadelphia, a cycling guide to the city and suburbs, and has published articles in Grid Magazine, Philadelphia Style, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the South and a Master of Engineering in Integrated Product Design from the University of Pennsylvania. Her design work blends digital fabrication techniques with craft and combines elements of public experience, perceived acceptance, and playfulness.
