Amy Orr (Philadelphia PA) was Executive Director of FiberPhiladelphia 2012, an international biennial and regional festival for innovative fiber/textile art and is now co-developing options for the future of the project. Orr is an adjunct instructor in fibers at Moore College of Art and Design, having left a tenured position at Rosemont College in 2005 to focus on her own work and related projects.
The artist’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions including those at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, SOFA NY, Snyderman-Works Gallery (Philadelphia) and the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Articles about her work have appeared in Surface Design Journal, Fiber Arts, Fiber Art Now, Cloth Paper Scissors, Patchwork Quilt Tsushin, Japan and newspapers and blogs worldwide. Orr has a BFA in Fine Arts from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Israel, an MA from the University of the Arts in Education and an MFA in Fibers/Crafts from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Amy Orr lives in Philadelphia with her husband, photographer John Woodin and their son, Hal.
